Acute Kidney Injury in Pregnancy

It is a condition in which kidney stop to work appropriately . The malfunction ranges from minor renal insult to complete renal failure.
Complication
1)-Hyperkalemia including Arrythmia
2)-Fluid Overload including Pulmonary Edema
Management of Acute Kidney Injury in Pregnancy
Principles of Management include appropriate Communication , Resusitation and Investigation and documentation.
1)-Insert Iv Catheter
2)-Urgent ECG especially to look for signs of Hyperkalemia
3)-Involve micobiologist regarding choice of antibiotics
4)-Appropriate Fluid Replacement
5)-Ensure follow up with Nephrologist
Special Advice given to the patient
1)-Encourage sufficient fluid intake
2)-Mobilize to prevent the chances of thromboembolism
3)-Advice to avoid Potassium rich food
4)-After delivery encourage breast feeding.
